BWK is looking for a board eligible Internist to fill a full-time position in an Internal Medicine department at a locally owned hospital in MA that has been in business since for over 40 years. The hospital is a multi-faceted teaching facility that includes a 24/7 Emergency and Critical Care Department,  a Specialty department with board certified specialists in emergency & critical care, internal medicine and surgery, and in house consulting cardiology and on-line consulting radiology, General Practice.  They currently have residency training programs in surgery and emergency and critical care medicine and a small animal rotating internship.  The hospital also has a strong support staff of many well trained certified veterinary technicians. The staff works together for the common goal of providing optimal care for each patient and their owners with the very best possible care that modern veterinary medicine has to offer.

This Small Animal Internist will be primarily responsible to see clinic appointments as new referrals and rechecks for monitoring of patients with chronic conditions, in house consultations between departments and full diagnostic work ups.   There will be a significant amount of outreach and coordination with other hospital departments to ensure quality patient care and flow in and out of the facility.  Ability to perform diagnostic abdominal and thoracic ultrasounds is required, ability to perform echocardiograms is a plus. The right candidate will possess the skills to help guide and mentor our residents and interns.

Advanced monitoring equipment, an in house full service laboratory (CBC/Chem/EPOC electrolytes, PT/PTT, blood typing, and crossmatching), Newport Breeze ventilator, in house blood bank, temperature controlled oxygen cages,Storz  video flexible and rigid endoscopy, color flow Doppler ultrasound, laparoscopy, dedicated chemotherapy room with chemo hood, Idexx digital radiography and CT allow for progressive medicine.
